It’s not clear exactly what iconic German designer Karl Lagerfeld would himself wear out to a day on the beach or a luxury poolside lounge. It is clear however his recent collaborative collection with French swim brand Vilebrequin, reinterprets iconic beach styles with KARL’s signature touch.
Inspired by iconic Rivieras and coastlines, the collection is grounded in a vibrant blue hue, offset by pops of crisp white and black. The men’s offering includes a polo shirt and two styles of swim shorts: one fitted with a flat-belt waist, and the other inspired by classic ‘70s silhouettes.
The limited-edition collection of eight items includes men’s and women’s swimwear, beachwear and beach accessories. The collection is further complemented by a beach towel and a zip-top clutch. The designs reflect Vilebrequin’s love for the “endless summer,” fused with KARL LAGERFELD’s signature aesthetic that’s sophisticated, modern and cool.
Perhaps our favorite piece of this artistic ‘KAR-LEBREQUIN’ swim collection is that of the pop art-esque beach towel. Between the white and blue color components and the Karl spray-paint graphic it may be better framed on ones wall than sandy and sun bleached.
The collection that launched in May will be available worldwide at select KARL LAGERFELD stores and KARL.COM, in addition to Vilebrequin stores and vilebrequin.com. Although prices range from $165 to $290 – we find it well worth it to own a piece of this exclusive, one-time only collection.
