Parisian heritage brand signs exclusive partnership with Macy’s and soars in to U.S. market
Paris based brand Daniel Hechter Paris, founded in 1962 by Daniel Hechter, announces its launch in the U.S. market with a line of men’s contemporary wear for the fall 2017 season. The label has constructed a ready-to-wear line specifically designed for the American market under the creative direction of Christophe Blondin Péchabrier, formerly artistic director at Lanvin. Mark Bushby, Men’s Sales Director at DH Paris/US explains why MACY’s was the perfect fit for the partnership from the get-go. “Daniel Hechter was founded on the philosophy of taking a democratic approach to fashion, giving the average man access to what was previously only available to the elite or privileged. As Macy’s is the number one retailer in the US market, providing both value and fashion, it was a natural fit for both of us.”
With an ever changing industry and an increased growth in the menswear market, Christophe goes in to detail about certain considerations that cross his mind when creating each collection. “The Daniel Hechter Paris business model is built upon strategic partnership through 65 countries; Thus first and foremost the respect of Daniel Hechter’s (the man) identity is key! In creating the collection a young spirit, a colorful mind, the French “savoir vivre” and positive codes are the bases of my recipe in creating the collections. We then mix it all with what is trending in culture. In all though, it’s all about roots and DNA first.”
With the recent crossover of the brand and introducing it in to a new market different from the company’s norm, Christophe explains that before business, it is all about maintaining a cohesive understanding of different markets. “We have the experience of working with different countries and cultures and this experience makes building strong relationships very easy. Those in our New York office embody an international mindset, just like us and we faced no problems to deliver a unified message for the debut collections.”
Capitalizing on their debut, Daniel Hechter Paris also showed for the first time during New York Fashion Week: Men’s at New York Men’s Day earlier this year and held an intimate influencer’s dinner to promote the immense success.
The new fall 2017 collection will offer outerwear, blazers, chinos, knits, wovens, and shirting at accessible price points for the American man with a European point of view. It will be available exclusively at Macys.com and in 11 of the retail giant’s top doors in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta and multiple locations in Southern California.
