“I wanted to capture the beauty of nature in a hotel and in doing so, commit to safeguarding it as best I can, a responsibility that I believe we all share. It’s 1 world.”
– Barry Sternlicht, CEO & Chairman, 1 Hotels
We couldn’t agree more. We had the luxury of getting a private tour of the new, impeccably outfitted 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, and it was a feast for all five senses, as well as a sixth: a sense of purpose.
Upon stepping into the ruggedly elegant entryway, you’re immediately greeted by a comforting, romantic and sexy scent that wafts through the air. The GREEN wall is in full flourish and will continue to grow and change, nourished by its built-in sprinkler system – a soothing, refreshing, welcoming sight after a long day of the concrete jungle of New York. Through the large glass panel windows, you can see the Brooklyn Bridge, whose iconic design inspired and enhances the hotel’s décor and architecture. It’s a serene, comforting environment you want to relish for as long as possible.
The ground floor restaurant will open this summer, but in the meantime, you can partake in the healthy and tasty offerings of NEIGHBORS just off the reception desk. We enjoyed the kale Caesar with grilled chicken, but did take note of delectable-looking tarts and cupcakes!
The rooftop bar, also to be opening this summer, will be the place to be. Offering breathtaking views of the East River, Statue of Liberty, 1 WTC, Brooklyn Bridge and pool, it will be a one-of-a-kind experience for all visiting.
Don’t expect a newspaper delivered to your door, we don’t want waste here, but do expect a complementary iPad to get your daily and immediate news updates. And although there is plenty to do within walking distance of the hotel, and several subway lines to get into Manhattan, guests have the luxury of traveling in style in the hotel’s electric Tesla Model X car. With service to locations within a 3-mile radius, you’ll have no trouble getting to the Lower East Side or the World Trade Center in style.
From ground floor to rooftop, each carefully considered detail creates an authentic and original Green experience. From the sweeping installation made of recycled materials in the lobby to the upcycled furniture found throughout the hotel, it’s clear this luxe destination 1 Hotel Brooklyn does not treat the Green movement as a gimmick or trend, but, rather, as a sustainable lifestyle.
